Au coeur nous préférons le diaphragme

STAGE CREATION 2020/2021

Au coeur nous préférons le diaphragme is a piece rooted in the respiratory function, whose themes extend to questions of breath, atmosphere and ecosystems.

For this creation, the artistic team was deliberately assembled from diverse backgrounds in order to immerse itself in a plural atmosphere — itself composed of 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen and 1% everything else; a space filled with particles that together form a whole; a group built around a plurality of disciplines and artistic perspectives, coming together to create a shared ecosystem.

This is the starting point of the work: bringing together dance and literature, scientific lecture and music. The specifically assembled artistic team forms the foundation of the creative process and of this stage laboratory.

From the heart, which we traditionally place at the centre, there is here a shift towards the diaphragm — the main muscle of respiration, which, in its simplest form, connects us to one and the same space and continuously renegotiates the boundary between ourselves and others.
