STAGE CREATION — DUO

For this new stage creation, I draw on the imaginary world of nocturnal figures: solitary and hybrid beings. Although nighttime and sleep have gradually been taken over by capitalism (Jonathan Crary), the night remains, for the most part, a space of resistance and poetry, outside the productivity-driven rhythms of the day.

Public lights are switched off village by village, certain birds are reclaiming a space in which to express themselves, and late-night radio programmes weave a sonic connection with our emotions.

I propose the hypothesis that the night is a time for what wavers, for those who waver — a notion that simultaneously evokes losing one’s balance and shimmering.

People make their way home drunk, ghosts roam, and so do foxes. At night, we move blindly, feeling our way forward. Nothing is fixed, nothing is definitive. Night is a world that questions balance and our daytime certainties, on the threshold between the visible and the invisible, the audible and the perceptible.
